The reuse of assets is often shameless with the player casually using an item in one room only to search for the same item to progress in anouther.Gameflow is a series of fits and starts with puzzles and hidden object locations becoming available at times without any context or highlight leaving the player often searching for things to do and collecting items with no reason for needing them.. Duration - 2.5 hoursFirst Time Played. This is a fairly straight-forward HOPA by Artifex Mundi. Puzzles were quite simple although at times mind-numbing, queue the talking piggy bank...??? Consequently it wasn't hard to attain all achievements except the one for using hint 30 times (so I started a new game and idled a bit while watching the footy to get 100%).Story was generic, rescue baby daughter (or son, can't remember) stolen by crazy wizard. DLC was equally inane, Household maid has key you need get potion to rescue hubby who has been turned to stone. Of course she won't give it to you unless you finish her embroidery??? It's stuff like that that ruins any potential immersion. I'll have to give this one a 5/10, much better titles out there.. It honestly pains me to write a negative review for an Artifex Mundi game, as I have enjoyed so many others, but I simply cannot recommended this one, (knowing that AM only published it rather than developed it makes me feel a little, tiny bit better). The story is practically non-existant, and what little is present is very vague and cliched; the game feels extremely short, (even for a HOP game); the bonus chapter is super dumb; and the game is just overall lacking. The puzzles are fine, the voice acting is mid-line which is normal and doesn't particularly faze me, and the scenes are somewhat pretty but that's really about it. It only took me about 2 hours to complete; the only reason it says I have 6.6 on record is because I left the game on pause and went to do other things. That's how utterly uninteresting it was. You play as a Queen, (who'd have guessed?), who apparently, despite wearing what looks like a modern-day Prom dress, has to do everything herself, included fixing and loading a ballista and a ship. That's probably hard to do in heels. Anyway, it's just a very bland game. If it's part of a collection and it's on sale, you can waste a couple hours with it, but it is certainly not worth it on its own.. Serves her right for marrying Joey Essex.. Mediocre, but playable. Biggest weakness is the story.. Decent HOG, nothing special, fun little game.(Never pay attention to my play times, because I tend to leave games running while I do other things.)The art is good, the music gets a little repetitive, but is otherwise good.There is limited voice acting, and it's fine (though Prince Henrik is distinctly wooden - I thought it matched his personality).The story is linear and cliché, but the HO scenes are well done. Everything works, all the collectables are very find-able.Bottom line: get it on sale to complete your set; play it to have fun, not for a challenge; easy and relaxingPS The bonus chapter is *very* short. Personally, I thought he made a better statue.. Another fairly simple hidden object game, the most challenging parts are the often badly indicated interactibles, that sometimes even seem to overlap and the morphing objects within the hidden object scenes themselves (well not really a challenge, so much as an annoyance). The bonus adventure too isn't particularly interesting or even challgenging and probably won't last you more than 15 minutes tops.. Gameplay is okay (pretty typical for a HOG), but the story is a mess of disjointed and unfinished ideas. Overall quite disappointing.. This one is a bit clunky for a HOG. The game play mechanics are dated, and the story isn't particularly great.Pick it up if you're a HOG fan and it's on sale.
